![]() ![]() This just makes the mechanics of shaving a bit easier. The mustache portion is a bit different from the rest of your face. In general, you want to shave with the grain of the hair- that is, in the direction the hair is growing. I say not so for the edges of your mustache. Start by swiping up with the razor blade. All of your strokes should be smooth and steady. You don't really need to apply too much force at all to get a clean shave. Shave upwards like this until your just inside the edges of your lip line. The rest of the 'stache is fairly straight forward. Actually it's all downward- smooth downward strokes with light pressure. Occasionally you get some feisty hairs right near the little connector between your nostrils. If you are one of those unfortunate people, use the very back blades of your razor to get them. Now, after you shave is just as important. Once you feel you have gotten everything, wipe off any remaining shave gel or cream with a towel. With your fingers, feel for any spots you may have missed or that are uneven and fix them appropriately. Once that is done, give yourself a quick spritz on the area with the coldest water you can bear. This will close up your pores and help prevent further acne. If you do happen to cut yourself while shaving- don't panic. To my rather limited medical knowledge, nothing major runs through the face. ![]() If you start to see blood, treat it like any other wound- rinse it with warm, soapy water and apply pressure until the bleeding stops. Usually the blood in your face clots up pretty well, which is why you'll see guys with pieces of toilet tissue on their face- that's really all you need and only for a few minutes. I always apply either an after-shave lotion or, at the very least, some lotion with aloe vera in it. These lotions are designed to soothe any sore or burned skin and also have other ingredients in them that make your skin look the best. And trust me- women like a man with firm, smooth skin no matter how manly he is. Now, if you really want to grow any facial hair, don't be discouraged by this bad first try.
